Great Frogs Winery

Great Frogs Winery is a highly rated winery located on Harness Creek Road in Annapolis. It is about a 10 minute drive from the historic center of Annapolis.

The winery is open on weekends only. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy a relaxing wine tasting experience in a scenic environment. The winery is known for its welcoming atmosphere and a diverse selection of wines. Great Frogs Winery takes pride in its eco-friendly practices, which echo the traditions of early American winemaking.

As one of the more popular areas in this region, reservations are encouraged for indoor seating.  Outdoor seating, however, is on a first come basis.  If you want the convenience of a laid back wine tasting, this place is for you. The winery has prebottled 2 oz flights of 6 wines for $30 for you to sample.  If you like one of the tastings, you can, of course, purchase a larger bottle. There are also snacks available for purchase.   

The winery also features many live events. Almost every Friday & Saturday in the peak season there is live music played. Additionally, there are other events like photo shoots as well as yoga classes. You can easily make a great day trip out here from Annapolis, Washington DC, or Baltimore. This winery also has a wine club you can join and it welcomes pets on leashes.

Thanksgiving Farm Winery

Thanksgiving Farm Winery is a charming and picturesque winery situated just outside Annapolis. With minimal traffic, it will take you about 30 minutes by car to get to this winery from downtown Annapolis. The winery is in close proximity to the town of Harwood, Maryland.

Gemeny Winery And Vineyards

Gemeny Winery and Vineyards boasts award-winning wines and a tranquil atmosphere. Located near the Patuxent River, this winery is an hour’s drive from downtown Annapolis. It is located directly south of National Harbor, Maryland and stone’s throw away from Upper Marlboro, MD. It is only open on the weekends, so be sure to check hours before heading over. 

There is plenty of greenery here and the setting provides an idyllic backdrop for tastings and special events. The knowledgeable staff share their passion for wine and offer guests a memorable experience, showcasing their handcrafted wines at the tasting room.

Running Hare Vineyard

Running Hare Vineyard is an elegant winery set in a stunning landscape. This winery is also just over an hour south of Annapolis. Known for its upscale ambiance and a variety of wines, the vineyard offers a memorable tasting experience to all visitors. This winery also has a biergarten onsite for anyone who is not interested in wine. 

There are plenty of food options as well. You can sample Hispanic and American cuisine from Hungry Hare or have an authentic wood-fired pizza from Pizza Di Vigna. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own food to enjoy. 

On the weekends, this is a highly coveted spot especially when the weather is nice. Because of this on weekends there is a $5 cover charge per person who is above 21. If you want to visit this winery frequently you can become a member by purchasing wine throughout the year here.

Romano Winery

Romano (sometimes called Roma Winery) Winery is a small intimate winery but is now closed to the general public. It is open for rentals as an event venue. The winery’s extensive selection of wines, crafted with great care and creativity, attracts both local and visiting wine enthusiasts. The knowledgeable staff are attentive to the visitors’ preferences and ensure that every tasting experience is enjoyable and memorable. The vineyard was home to five wine grape varietals –  Chambourcin, Barbera, Vidal, Cayuga and Traminette.

Love Point Vineywards & Winery

Love Point Vineyards and Winery offers a unique wine tasting experience by the water. It is located on Kent Island, just a quick 30 minute drive from downtown Annapolis. This vineyard produces wines that reflect the distinct maritime climate and soil of the region, staying true to the area’s historical winemaking practices.

It is important to note that outside food or drink is permitted at this winery.  Charcuterie and Veggie boards are available for purchase by guests. This place can also be rented for private events as well. The venue is absolutely stunning and makes for a great outing from Annapolis.

Vineyards At Dodon

Vineyards at Dodon is about 30 minutes southeast of Annapolis in the town of Davidsonville. It is a place where visitors can learn more about the history of wine production in the area. The vineyard’s rich history and careful cultivation practices produce high-quality wines that are both reflective of the past and suited to contemporary tastes. 

Visits to The Vineyards at Dodon are only available by appointment. If you are not yet a member of the Dodon Wine Club, you can schedule an introductory flight experience, or a Tour & Tasting. The tour can help you to understand Dodon’s farming and winemaking practices.

Basignani Winery

Basignani Winery is about a 90 minute drive north of Annapolis. You will have to pass Baltimore in order to get there. This winery has a tasting room as well as a pavilion area where events are held. 

The Pavilion can be rented out for events, including weddings and is one of the more affordable venues in the DMV for a small wedding. They also offer pizza on site for purchase which is great if you have kids with you.  

Wine Events In Annapolis

One of the featured events is the Castillo de Aresan Wine Dinner taking place at Smashing Grapes. This exquisite dinner showcases the fantastic wines of Castillo de Aresan and provides a sophisticated evening for wine enthusiasts.
