There is a limit to the number of cars allowed on Assateague Island. According to the National Park Service, a maximum of 145 over-sand vehicles (OSVs) are allowed on the beach at one time. This policy is in place to protect the fragile resources of the barrier island and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
